Questions
What must a GST tax invoice show?
The supplier's name, address and GSTIN; a unique invoice number for the financial year (up to 16 characters); the date; the customer's name, address and GSTIN if registered; HSN or SAC codes; a description, quantity and taxable value for each item; the GST rate and amount; the place of supply; and a signature.
When do I charge CGST and SGST, and when IGST?
When your state and the place of supply are the same, the GST is split equally into CGST and SGST. When they are different states, the whole amount is IGST. The generator does this for you.
Do I need e-invoicing?
Businesses with annual turnover above ₹5 crore must report each B2B invoice on the government's e-invoice portal to get an IRN and a signed QR code; this generator cannot do that. Below ₹5 crore, an invoice like this one is enough. Check with your CA if you are close to the limit.
Can I use it without a GSTIN?
Yes. Without a GSTIN it makes a plain invoice. Businesses that are not registered for GST cannot charge GST, so set the rate to 0%.
